Residents, staff and faculty within Lennox School District (LSD) were shocked but not surprised by the sudden departure of its former Superintendent Kent Taylor. Residents, under condition of anonymity, shared that LSD officials are terrified of what’s to come.
Between 2UrbanGirls and David Rosenfeld, from the Daily Breeze, we have kept residents up to date on what is transpiring in the district.
The LA Times dropped a bombshell last year that Taylor struck a deal with local Catholic schools to give students laptops in exchange for money. Money in the form of average daily attendance (ADA) dollars.
Rosenfeld’s most recent article, stated Taylor has burned through millions of LSD reserves and again referenced the “virtual academy” created by Taylor in conjunction with St. Joseph’s and St. John Chrysostom in Inglewood.
There are also concerns with School Management Solutions and the contracts they received for administering the virtual academy. Who else was receiving payments for connecting the Catholic schools with Lennox?
This author wondered why Inglewood Councilman Alex Padilla was in a photo op as Lennox broke ground on a new school. Padilla has ZERO ties to Lennox, but is a regular fundraiser for St. John Chrysostom.
Now there are growing rumors that there is more to Taylor’s abrupt resignation and it could be tied to issues with the districts former Public Information Officer Davon Dean.
Stay tuned as this story is still developing.
