I’m disappointed in Assembly member Isadore Hall III. While he is all excited over getting legislation passed to rename a portion of the Bay Bridge in San Francisco after controversial politician Willie L. Brown, Jr. he ignored neighboring Golden Gate Bridge who posted the most suicides, in the bridges history, last month. How can Hall be so adamant about protecting the lives of porno stars from HIV, but no legislation to provide funding to increase barrier protections to save lives. The youngest person recorded to have committed suicide on the Golden Gate Bridge was five years old. Hence the term “empty suit“.
Is this how the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles makes their money? The LA Times reports that U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) is getting in the ass of the EPA asking federal environmental officials Thursday to ensure the safety of a low-income South Los Angeles community. Residents complain of ailments that may be linked to noxious odors from an urban oil field. Chemical smells waft through the University Park neighborhood from an oil-pumping operation on land Allenco Energy Co. leases from the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Lets see how soon residents start to complain in the recently built housing development on the former gas station site at Exposition and Figueroa. Sounds like Ujima Village all over again. Does Senator Boxer need to help the Carson residents too?
Hedge funds to collect millions with pension reform? With Detroit residents in court over their pensions and as Chicago recently announced their ballooning debt, Rolling Stone discusses how Rhode Island is the model for pension reform.
