A late night crash took the lives of three people in the city of Manhattan Beach, one of which was a principal with the Inglewood Unified School District.
At appx 9:47pm, MBFD was dispatched to a 4-vehicle injury accident at Marine Ave/Sepulveda Blvd. Unfortunately, when it was all said and done, 3 people were dead and 3 others were injured (1 critical and 2 stable).

In a letter to parents, Dr. Erika Torres identified one of the deceased as Christian Mendoza, the new principal of Bennett-Kew Elementary school. He previously worked in Lennox School District.
Katie-Jay Scott,40, was also identified as a victim, along with Mendoza, who are both from Redondo Beach, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner’s office. The name of the third victim was not released pending notification to their family.
