“Dear 2UrbanGirls,
Someone explain it to me. Why is Compton in a rush to ban E-cigarettes? I know about the vaping related deaths, but what are the other factors?
CVS already bans tobacco products and if we were really concerned about people smoking at all we could ban smoke shops. So again, what’s this about?
Vapes are a nicotine delivery system, just like cigarettes. They have the potential to kill and do long-term health damage…just like cigarettes.
Perhaps it’s because people are moving from cigarettes to vapes and cannabis; and the excise tax revenue is down. Maybe if we move enough people to new forms of smoking, we can get the excise tax rate on cannabis up from 15% to the 28- 62% tax that tobacco products have.
Just a thought.”
