Dear 2urbangirls,
Thank you for alerting Inglewood residents about the upcoming Public Hearing this Tuesday, December 7, regarding proposed updates to the Master Fee schedule regarding a transportation Impact fee.
As much as I want to thank you 2UrbanGirls can I kindly ask , didn’t the residents resolve this before? Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t the City of Inglewood put an, ambiguous, confusing and deceptive tax measure before voters, in the form of Measure I, and the residents rejected it?
Maybe, I missed something because in the manner of formerly disgraced President Donald Trump fashion, the Mayor and Inglewood City Council have decided on it’s own fruition, that Inglewood residents will foot the bill for the Inglewood Transit Connector come hell or high water.
Haven’t we seen this movie before 2UrbanGirls? Isn’t this the exact playbook that was enacted by Donald Trump when he lost his re- election bid and ultimately led to one of the greatest attack on our democracy ever with the January 6 insurrection of the Capitol?
I mean if this act by the Mayor and council wasn’t so troubling above and beneath the surface it would be funny.
Haven’t we seen this exact same scenario when the Mayor and the Council assured the residents that they would have the ability to vote on SoFi stadium, only to reverse their position, and decide the City’s fate on their own?
Hell if we are going to be completely honest, the residents were never given an actual vote saying they wanted the stadium and the responsibilities that came along with it.
Wasn’t it Mayor Butts who said adults handles their responsibilities? Because if we are being honest, responsible adults, then clearly the Mayor, and City Council took the rights away from the residents in having a say so in the stadium, and subsequent issues regarding the stadium, and that’s the main reason why we are here today.
Why should the residents be forced to pay for a project that the Mayor, Council and Developer’s rigged to discourage as little public participation or scrutiny at all?
With that being said the SoFi stadium is here and the Clippers arena is coming whether we like it or not and ignoring the inevitable doesn’t resolve the traffic, parking and the myriad of other issues that exist within the Mayor and Council’s leadership, but we can’t ignore the fact that the Mayor’s backroom deals with these developer’s and donors are costing Inglewood residents money and the Mayor and Council has every intention to bleed the residents dry.
Marvin McCoy.
