Dear 2urbangirls,
Wasn’t Aja Brown the Mayor that said google me?
No, in fact she emphatically implored the voter’s of Compton to ” Google’Â all the various candidates who were seeking public office in attempts to “ring the alarm” on these so -called nefarious character’s seeking public office in the “Hub” City.
With that being said while reading your blog about the “cannabis” money that’s flowing into Compton’s current election, and the differing “opinions”, I felt a sense of conviction to explain how extremely dangerous Mayor Aja Brown’s dubious ,trojan horse plan to legalize weed dispensaries may have played a hand in the uptick of recent shootings and murders in the City of Compton.
To put this point in ” focus” ,it’s important to note that Compton residents in the past have voted down the mass distribution of marijuana, in spite of state law. It should be also noted that there is a new voting bloc that is emerging in the City, which seemingly points to the inevitable that Compton will legalize recreational distribution of Marijuana.
To ignore that fact is naive, and clouds the fact that the Mayor’s coy disposition on the issue or her owned rumor self interest in the Marijuana industry, may have led to her and her administration loose enforcement of shutting down the “plethora” of these illegal dispensaries in the City, and in turn, endangering the lives of the same residents she took an oath to protect.
We can all argue the merits of the “devil lettuce” and I loosely make this statement, tongue and cheek but the Mayor’s association with the Marijuana industry, and actively pushing her potential replacement with the sole purpose of pushing an agenda, one could ask isn’t her silence, and that of her hand groomed successor, hypocritical of the “Christian” faith they both proudly profess?
This isn’t an issue about racism and it’s too easy to make it about race, unless you need an easy and lazy time tested excuse to deflect from the issue.
What shouldn’t be loss on the voters in this upcoming election is that these illegal dispensaries are a hotbed of violence and murders and as a result puts the greater Compton community at risk.
The Mayor has these stats, and numbers don’t lie, and by allowing these illegal dispensaries to operate with the sole purpose of her own financial gain violates the basic principle of public officials to protect human lives.
Has Mayor Brown’s clear desire to placate the Marijuana industry put the lives of Compton residents @ risk?
And if Mayor Brown and her handpicked successor, Christian Reynaga insist on ignoring or addressing the residents of Compton of these serious allegations, the residents have a moral and ethical obligation to withhold their vote.
In closing I would like to end this quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
“In the end we will not remember the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends”.
