Breonna Taylor was fatally shot by Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) officers on March 13, 2020. Three plainclothes LMPD officers executing a no-knock search warrant entered her apartment and gunfire was exchanged between Taylor’s boyfriend Kenneth Walker and the officers. Walker said that he believed that the officers were intruders.
The leaked report details Taylor’s involvement in the alleged criminal enterprise LMPD officers were investigating although she wasn’t being investigated. Her address was used for her boyfriends mail, and was also connected to a bank account where his money was held. Jailhouse phone calls also connect her to the alleged criminal activities.
In short, the police had reason to believe they were at the correct house due to the evidence they obtained during their multi-year investigation.
