    1. Butts should be impeached for stealing public funds in order to get friends to pay him back under tha table!

  1. I find it funny that your response is to vote out the treasurer, who is bringing transparency to her role and work, as opposed to voting out Mr. Butts who has routinely acted in bad faith.

I completely believe Ms. Brown — Inglewood’s success doesn’t rely on Mr. Butts. He’s just along for the ride and trying to siphon the credit.

Mr. Butts has routinely tried to manipulate the city to avoid criticism of himself. Let’s just look at the Joseph Teixiera drama. Mr. Teixiera was criticizing Mr. Butts using video the city produced — literally videos in the public domain (as no city or state can claim copyright). So what does Mr. Butts do? He sues Mr. Teixiera over COPYRIGHT…something no government can claim! And what happens? The city fails spectacularly and the only person that won in that case is the lawyer representing Mr. Teixiera.

If Inglewood really wants to shine in success, then they need to rid themselves of Mr. Butts. He’s a disease on the city and needs to go.

We need transparency and checks and balances. If the Mayor is so weak that a little bit of criticism makes him use city dollars to sue people, that’s not the Mayor I want. That’s no different than Donald Trump. I mean that honestly…Donald Trump and James Butts are exactly the same in that way.

    1. MAYOR IS JUST TOTALLY INCOMPETENT/NOT A POLITICIAN/ POLICE TEMPERMENT/NEVER A PUBLIC SERVANT ELECTED BY THE PEOPLE/SERVANT

  2. Let’s hope Inglewood residents are smart enough NOT to reelect the city treasurer to a 9th term.

This woman is an embarrassment to herself.

Every week she spends her time bringing up OLD news and calling other city employees names or saying negative things about them.

I can see why her time was taken away and her badge deactivated.

She’s clearly creating a hostile work environment and comes across as unstable.

    1. First Amendment allows her freedom of speech and as the treasurer she has a fiduciary responsibility to share with the constituents about her perceived issues with how the city’s money is being handled.

      1. @2urbangirls I agree with you when it comes to the city treasurer bringing up how Inglewood’s money is being managed, but in my opinion, PERSONAL ATTACKS on the mayor, city manager, city clerk and city council members is NOT the way to go about it.

The personal attacks are counterproductive and take away from everything she’s trying to say.

Also, why did the city treasurer wait until she was told she did not qualify for lifetime medical benefits to start speaking up? It comes across as vindictive.

        1. According to Ms Brown the mayor lavishes taxpayer money on who he sees fit. Lifetime medical benefits were approved for retiring members of the council, not while they are serving.

I’m still confused as to how the former council voted on additional benefits for themselves at taxpayers expense? Dorn was convicted for doing that. Has Mayor Butts rescinded the ordinance? No he hasn’t. Has he asked DA Jackie Lacey to add additional charges to Jose Fernandez case? No.

Was Butts planning on taking advantage of that benefit himself? Possibly.

          1. Roosevelt Dorn was not convicted of anything related to Lifetime Medical Benefits. He was indicted for voting to extend a low interest home loan program meant to attract quality executives to City employment to elected officials and then using the loan to refinance his residence in the City. This was an improper use of public funds as there is no reason to incentivize elected officials to move to the City, because by law they must live here to be elected and to serve. Further, he used it to refinance a residence he already owned. He reached an agreement with the DA’s office to step down and never run for office again. Interestingly, Wanda Brown took out the same loan to refinance her home in Inglewood, but was not indicted because as Treasurer, she did not vote on the ordinance. (I haven’t seen that in any of her statements about impropriety) It was equally unethical, she had to live here BY LAW to run and serve. This too was a GIFT of PUBLIC FUNDS. She later refinanced her home and paid back the unethical loan after Dorn was indicted and after she was called as a witness against him. In the situation of Jose Fernandez, he did not receive a low-interest loan from the City. What the Council voted upon (Retiree Lifetime Medical) was not illegal and if it were, the DA’s Office would have taken issue with it at the time they investigated the Low-Interest loan program. Further, this vote was taken in about 2003 (Long before I elected mayor in 2011). Any such action would be outside any Conflict of Interest Statute of Limitations.

            1. THANK YOU Mayor Butts for your leadership and continued service to the community.

You’ve turned Inglewood into a great So-Cal city.

Property values are up, crime is down and sports teams are moving in!

            2. Thank you for pointing out that residency is required BY LAW ,
Many remember this was the THE LAW which James Butts ignored when he first attempted to run for Mayor of Inglewood while still a resident at the Ladera Heights address he shared with his wife.
Jose Fernandez is awaiting trail for the numerous personal enrichment violations while Superintendent at Centnela Valley Union High School District. Among these is a low interest home loan for himself (similar to the one Dorn took advantage of ). James Butts has declared thatJose is simply guilty of “negotiated a better employment package” -Clearly the District Attorney believes Jose has seriously misused public funds. Unfortunately the majority of the Centinela Valley Board members failed to carefully read what they were voting on and did not question the documents before them much like the current Inglewood City Council. See the Pulitzer Prize story in the Daily Breeze. Keep in mind Three took advantage of the loan program but last time this was brought up by the public ONLY Wanda Brown had repaid the loan and both Dorn and Kirkley had not.

        2. Pointing out the wrong doing of those we as taxpayers are paying now (and after they retire for the rest of their lives) is not a personal attack. Individuals who violate the public trust should not be be rewarded or simply shuffled to a different public (tax payer) funded agency.
We deserve HONESTY and INTEGRITY from each and every of OUR employees. Both of these seem to be in short supply and explain how the once beautiful city considered a rival to Beverly Hills has been so poorly cared for that “Proud Gentrifier” thinks so unkindly of our community and that Kroenke, Ballmer, and Roskie felt comfortable doing back room deals with our self interested elected locally and in Sacramento !
There far to many who seem to give the mayor a free pass to launch personal attacks, misrepresent about most things, use intimidation to silence any who question, bring frivolous embarrassing and costly lawsuits against a resident and in public suggest a female resident “go choke yourself”. And…we the residents pay with our tax dollars to glam up his image on top of that!
The sad embarrassment is so many are willing to drink the kool aid he is pouring.
