During today’s regular city council meeting, Mayor Butts accepted full responsibility in admitting to turning left, into oncoming traffic, which caused a multi party accident that left an Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Motor Officer with serious injuries.
Agenda items 9 and 10 were pulled related to awarding sound proofing contracts to HHJ Construction. Public Records Requests to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have gone unanswered to learn how much has been drawn down on the most recent grant awarded to the city of Inglewood. The current contract mandates that the Inglewood Police Department (IPD) create a distracted driver awareness campaign.
During council remarks, Councilman George Dotson had no comments as it was revealed hours before the meeting that he was being fined for accepting tickets from the Los Angeles Rams that exceeded the allowable amount for a “gift”.
The remaining council members made sure to express Mother’s Day wishes to the city’s mothers.
Mayor James Butts concluded his remarks with making a motion, at the request of Councilman Alex Padilla, to nominate Keokia Childress Horton to the Housing Advisory Commission that has yet to publicly meet.
Childress Horton works as assistant to Inglewood Planning Commissioner David Rice and is chiefly responsible for the coordinating of the Taste of Inglewood which is now accepting applications from participants.
