Inglewood residents are being played. At the end of the regular Inglewood City Council meeting held on March 27th, James Butts publicly stated he and Melanie McDade would have completed their findings, related to the temporary rent stabilization ordinance, by the following council meeting.
Residents were told PUBLICLY, there would be NO meeting held on Tuesday, April 2, 2017, due to the Cesar Chavez holiday. Instead, the city posted an April 2nd council agenda late Friday night on the 29th.
The city pulled a fast one and didn’t publicly air the council meeting, despite them posting an event on the city’s Facebook page about the 2pm meeting. Instead they chose to post it hours later and as usual City Treasurer Wanda Brown wasn’t present for the entire meeting.
2UrbanGirls contacted the Inglewood City Clerk’s office who shared the item is being held over until the 16th.
The oral was delivered by City Manager Artie Fields and he stated the city would likely be requesting more time to “study” other city’s rent stabilization ordinances, so they can create a thoughtful balance for both property owners and renters.
2UrbanGirls advises ALL interested persons to show up to both next week’s meeting, AND the 16th since this council is known for publicly saying one thing then doing something else.
