Inglewood business Jamz Creamery is a black owned ice cream shop located a stones throw from the multi-billion dollar SoFi Stadium. The 4th season of HBO’s “Insecure” premiered on April 12 and show creator Issa Rae continues to highlight community businesses as an act of “good will”. This caught the ire of the owners who found the show’s portrayal of him and his business negatively.
Issa approached the business to use his name then calls him “dirty James” on screen? Is this the same woman always claiming to be “rooting for everyone black”?
Jamz features an ice cream float named after the city’s mayor and is also promoted by Metro and the owner’s sister runs the Inglewood Airport Area Chamber of Commerce.
Issa Rae’s production office is located around the corner from Jamz at 233 S. Market Street and was conveniently unresponsive to requests for comment.
