MESSAGE FROM SUPERINTENDENT DR. DARIN BRAWLEY REGARDING COVID-19
Good Afternoon, this is Compton Unified Superintendent Darin Brawley. The Compton Unified School District will hold an special board meeting tomorrow, March 14th at 9am to consider options related to the novel coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic.
After conferring with local and state officials, as well as our union partners, I am recommending to the Compton Unified School District Board of Trustees that we move up Spring recess to March 16 and extend it by one week. I expect that the Board will approve this recommendation.
If this motion is approved, spring recess will be two weeks and will begin Monday, March 16. Students will therefore return from Spring recess on Tuesday, March 31.
This is a difficult decision, as over the past ten days we have been in planning discussions around potential extended school recesses to ensure that important supports are in place to ensure that students can still maintain access to critical services, such as regular meals, without which there would be a significant hardship if schools suddenly closed.
Everyone will be informed of the Board’s Decision shortly after it occurs through ParentSquare and on the District’s website.
