Compton Unified School District has yet to publicly comment on the arrest of a long-time employee who is charged with multiple counts of oral copulation of a minor.
Rodney Andrews, 37, was arrested in the early morning of April 27 by Los Angeles County Sheriff deputies assigned to the Fugitive Unit.
Andrews’ bail was set at $500,000 and bonded out prior to arraignment and was released days later.
Sources close to the investigation detail the victim was a student at Compton High School and was enrolled in an after school computer class taught by Andrews.
After being arrested, Andrews reportedly asked “why” and was told “for sexual encounters with a minor”.
Andrews responded “which one”.
Andrews has established relationships with many of the Compton elected officials, on the school board and city council, and is a regular volunteer at events where children are present.
Compton Unified has yet to publicly notify parents about Andrews arrest.
