Compton Federal Grant Audit Lacks Official Opinion


On January 2, 2018, Eadie + Payne were awarded an $850,000 contract to audit the city of Compton’s finances from 2013-2017. Today’s council agenda includes their report for Federally Assisted Grants Programs for Fiscal Years 2014-2017. They were unable to disclaim an opinion because they were unable to obtain sufficient appropriate audit evidence and written management representations.
They also do not have an opinion on the effectiveness of the City’s internal controls. They also don’t have an opinion on the City’s compliance with federal regulations. Are these the same auditors that suggested Craig Cornwell become the new City Manager?
