Compton District 1 candidate Michelle Chambers has received another huge endorsement from City of Compton employees. Resident William Kemp made a snarky comment in regards to Chambers boss not supporting her. Well Mr. Kemp, what does it say when city employees don’t support one of the incumbents being re-elected?
AFSCME Local 2325 represents management (department heads, deputies and supervisors) who clearly are tired of having to report to incumbent Janna Zurita.
“Thank you to the employees in both AFSCME Locals 2325 and 3947 for their endorsement. As a former union employee, I understand it is imperative we support our employees, execute contracts timely and improve employee moral here in the City of Compton. I vow to work with our Mayor, Councilmembers and City ManagerMichelle Chambers
to provide the departments with the adequate budget required to provide efficient city services. We have talented, experienced, dedicated employees who represent our city very well. It is an extreme honor to receive their support and I look forward to working with them”.
AFSCME sent out an email to its members proclaiming their overwhelming support for Michelle Chambers and Councilwoman Emma Sharif.
City of Compton Employee Unions Endorse Michelle Chambers for District 1 and Incumbent Councilmember Emma Sharif for District 4. AFSCME Locals 2325 (Management) and Local 3947 Bargaining Units send a clear message that enough is enough!! They are tired of the bullying and vindictive behavior of councilmembers their family and friends. Chambers and Sharif overwhelmingly received more than 70% and 90% respectively. Could this be the tale tale sign ofbwhat’s to come in the upcoming April 16, 2019 City of Compton elections? Stay tuned!
