
Michelle Chambers is well known to Compton residents as an employee with State Assemblymember Mike Gipson’s office. In that capacity, Chambers assists with ensuring state services are made available to Compton residents. She has now stepped up to the plate to run against Councilwoman Janna Zurita to represent the first district.
Chambers has over 27 years of government experience, including working with elected officials and is well equiped to make a positive impact directly serving Compton residents. She is also a former union member. Chambers is not the first employee, to run for office, while working for a sitting elected official.
Sydney Kamlager-Dove served as District Director to Sen. Holly Mitchell which allowed her to become elected to the Los Angeles Community College District and then to the State Assembly representing the area she worked in under Mitchell. Residents knew her, and how she played a pivotal role in ensuring the community had access to services.
Chambers collegaue in Gipson’s office, Chris Wilson, who serves as his District Director, is currently running for Councilman of Signal Hill. He currenty serves as one of the city’s Planning Commissioners.
Based on Chambers list of endorsements, the Compton community is stepping up to help her be their next Councilwoman.
