Clippers owner Steve Ballmer is pumped up over the renderings for his proposed arena in the city of Inglewood. Inglewood Mayor James Butts and select “dignitaries” were in attendance for the big reveal.
The proposed arena will have a three-dimensional oval design with a unique exterior of diamond-shaped metal panels inspired by the concept of a basketball swishing through a net. In addition to attractive aesthetics, the panels have been designed to provide solar benefit for maximum energy efficiency, as part of the facility’s LEED GOLD-certified design. The facility’s most striking feature, intended to highlight the temperate climate of Southern California, is the integration of indoor/outdoor “sky gardens.”
According to Gerard McCallum, of Wilson Meaney, the proposed Clippers arena will be located on the SouthEast corner of Century Blvd. and Prairie Ave.
The city and Murphy’s Bowl LLC, an entity controlled by Ballmer, just gave their approval to Jackson Limousine to use the parcels opposite of the planned arena.
The city of Inglewood is paying thousands on a media campaign to disparage James Dolan, owner of the Forum, due to his opposition of the planned arena. The campaign includes a harrowing tale of how poor the city of Inglewood residents are and how desperate we are to get this new arena.
LA based Pace News expects to receive a payment, in excess of $8,000, on tomorrow’s council agenda, to advertise “assessments” of Inglewood properties, despite her paper not being delivered to any homes within Inglewood city limits. Pace publisher Gloria Zurveen has NEVER received that kind of many for any advertisement related to the city of Inglewood.
