The city of Inglewood will resume regular city council meetings where they will take up short-term rentals.
The city’s Economic and Community Development Department is requesting a public hearing on April 28th at 2pm to discuss amending the Inglewood Municipal Code (IMC) to allow short-term rentals due to increased activity related to SoFi Stadium and potential Clippers arena.
Airbnb joined the Inglewood Airport Area Chamber of Commerce as a precursor to this item being placed before the city council. The city says there are 400+ short-term rentals in the city, including a controversial location, at 4200 W. Century Blvd, that was residential housing before it was turned into i-WOOD.
The city has now released both City Clerk Yvonne Horton and Deputy City Clerk Aisha Phillip’s email addresses to submit public comments, due to the coronavirus, to ensure residents will their concerns entered into the public record.

City Attorney Ken Campos is requesting $50,000 from city reserves to fund a contract prosecutor position since the current one is on maternity leave. It is unclear who signed the staff report on behalf of City Manager Artie Fields.
St. Mary’s Academy will provide use of their track for the city’s track and field program at no cost to city residents. This staff report also contains a peculiar variance of Fields’ signature.
As previously reported, the city’s Public Works department is requesting a public hearing on May 5th at 2pm to address creating a citywide residential permit parking system, that will exclude District 2. Residents are already balking at the 2 permit maximum per household.
Finally, Mayor James Butts is adding an additional executive order prohibiting no fault evictions and withdrawal of residential units from the rental market, under the Ellis Act, during the COVID-19 local emergency period.
