Inglewood Unified School District (IUST) will not face an audit. In June it was reported a request to audit the emergency loan of $55 million dollars, as outlined in SB533, was initiated by Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar), and supported by Assemblyman Isdaore Hall (D-Compton). The committee is composed of both Senate and Assembly members.

Although a vigorous fight was led on July 1st, the audit was avoided when three members, who are ironically, ALL democrats, blocked the favorable vote. They are: Sen. Jim Beall (D-San Jose), Sen. Ricardo Lara of Bell Gardens and Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson of Santa Barbara.
This audit would have shined some much-needed light on what happens when the state takes over a school district, so we can avoid the same mistakes in the future,” Huff said. “It’s unfortunate that parents of Inglewood are being denied an opportunity to keep their school district accountable. The committee voted against transparency.
Another request for an audit will be brought back before the committee in August. Keep up to date by visiting the committee’s website by clicking here.
