COMPTON – A person was struck by a Metro Blue (A) Line train in Compton Monday, temporarily suspending rail services in the area. The person was hit about 2:35 p.m. as a northbound train was approaching the Artesia station located in the 100 block of West Artesia Boulevard, according to a Metro representative. Details on the person’s condition were not immediately available. Rail services between the Artesia and Compton Metro stations were suspended for an unknown duration as authorities investigated the collision. Bus shuttles were available for riders traveling between the Artesia and Compton stations.

LOS ANGELES – Two gang members were each sentenced Monday to a dozen years behind bars for carrying out an armed robbery at a Beverly Hills restaurant, where one customer was struck by gunfire and a $500,000 watch was stolen from another diner. LOS ANGELES – A 25-year-old man was critically wounded after a verbal argument led to a shooting in Koreatown, authorities said Monday. The shooting was reported at 10:40 p.m. Sunday at Sixth and Catalina streets, according to a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center. The victim got into an argument with a male who produced a handgun and shot the victim before running away, the officer said. The shooting occurred about 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the 11700 block of Kagel Canyon Street, said a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center. LOS ANGELES – The driver of one vehicle was killed in a three- vehicle crash in South Los Angeles, authorities said Monday. The crash was reported at 5:27 a.m. Sunday on Vernon Avenue at Avalon Boulevard, said Officer Rosario Cervantes of the Los Angeles Police Department Media Relations Section. LOS ANGELES – The number of COVID-positive hospital patients continues to plunge in Los Angeles County, declining by 125 people to 2,086, according to the latest state figures released Sunday. The number of those patients in intensive care was 439, down from 461 a day earlier. LOS ANGELES – The coroner’s office Sunday released the name of a man gunned down in the south Los Angeles area. Alejandro Magana was 31-years-old, according to the coroner’s office. His city of residence was not available. The shooting was reported about 6:20 a.m. Friday in the 1300 block of East 103rd Street, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.
