COMPTON – A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department dog was shot by a suspect in Compton Wednesday with its bulletproof vest absorbing the gunshot. KCAL reported that deputies responded to the 100 block of East Spruce Street, near Willowbrook Avenue, searching for an unidentified suspect for unspecified reasons. The suspect emerged from where they were hiding, then shot at the dog that was assisting deputies in their search for the suspect, according to KCAL. The dog was taken to an animal hospital, where it was listed in stable condition. Deputies later arrested the suspect.

LONG BEACH – A man in possession of a gun was fatally shot by Long Beach Police Department officers in a park in the city’s Cambodia Town area Wednesday, police said.
