Concerns about nepotism, favoritism, and the unfair treatment of some employees have been a silent topic of discussion among LAPD employees of all ranks ever since Chief Charlie Beck was appointed in 2009. Those silent discussions were elevated to a collective cry for help by LAPD officers over the past two weeks. The fear however, is that the officers’ message may have gotten lost among the salacious headlines, the slicing and dicing tactics of “cover and concealment” by the Chief, and the many rumors in social media.

Los Cerritos News (HMG_CN) is reporting the investigation into the City of Compton is heating up.  Citing a July 31, 2014 letter, from L.A. County Dist. Atty. Jackie Lacey, she is requesting agendas, council meetings and elected related forms, dating back to 2004.  She specifically states to city clerk Alita Godwin to NOT redact signatures.

By now everyone in Los Angeles county is aware that Compton school board trustee, Skyy Fisher, was arrested for alleged lewd acts on an unconscious “victim”.  Community activist, Najee Ali, staged a protest, in front of Fisher’s home, with all of four people, to embarrass him into resigning, which Fisher has refused to do.

Inglewood Unified School District (IUST) will not face an audit.  In June it was reported a request to audit the emergency loan of $55 million dollars, as outlined in SB533, was initiated by Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar), and supported by Assemblyman Isdaore Hall (D-Compton).  The committee is composed of both Senate and Assembly members.

City of Los Angeles city council members appear to be nothing more than double talkers.  Especially when it comes to negotiations with the Department of Water and Power (DWP).  As the cities mayoral race was in full swing last year, contract negotiations drew near with DWP employees.  Mayor Eric Garcetti, then councilman, should have been all too familiar with negotiations but appeared dazed and confused once elected.  Lets go back down memory lane shall we…

El Camino College was recently awarded a $2.8 million dollar grant to fund a program called Project Lead the Way (PLTW).  PLTW will bring engineering education to local high schools to create a pathway to college and career opportunities.  El Camino will partner with local schools to gives students the opportunity to earn college credits while in high school.

City of Los Angeles officials and LADOT have worked to bring carsharing to the city for the last five years.  After beginning with a pilot program with Zipcar and citing revenue estimates between $3 million and $30 million from an agreement with Hertz, it was a no brainer that LADOT selected Hertz over Zipcar in summer 2013.  That decision has come back to haunt LADOT officials who are now left wondering why Hertz stopped returning their phone calls and pulled out of the agreement.
