The average price has dropped 5.4 cents over the past five days, including 1.4 cents Friday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. The average price is 4.9 cents less than one week ago, but 12.9 cents more than one month ago and 36 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.66 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“Los Angeles wholesale gasoline prices continue to be volatile as some local refinery maintenance continues, so it’s hard to know if this is a pause or a genuine downward trend,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement released Thursday.
“Oil Price Information Service expects gas prices nationally to drop as we head toward the Thanksgiving holiday and the colder time of year when demand typically drops, but California does not always follow the national price trend.”
The national average price dropped four-tenths of a cent to $3.076. It is three-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and nine-tenths of a cent more than one month ago, but eight-tenths of a cent less than one year ago.
