Community Working Group Accepting Applications for New Members for Phase 2
WHAT: Metro invites community members to join the Community Working Group (CWG) for the Long Beach–East Los Angeles (LB–ELA) Corridor Mobility Investment Plan (CMIP), a $4 billion initiative aimed at transforming transportation, health and sustainability along the I-710 Corridor.
CWG members will help set the direction of CMIP programs and projects to deliver equitable and community-driven investments, such as zero-emission truck infrastructure, workforce development, safer streets for pedestrians and cyclists and improved transit service. These efforts aim to reduce air pollution, expand access to opportunity and improve the quality of life for residents living in one of the region’s busiest freight corridors.
The CWG will be composed of up to 30 community members who will:
- Provide feedback on community programs and benefits
- Represent their community or city within the corridor.
- Share updates and information between Metro and local neighborhoods
- Serve a two-year term, with opportunities for compensation for participation.
Residents along the corridor are encouraged to apply and help shape the future of a cleaner, safer and more connected I-710 Corridor.

PROJECT BACKGROUND
The Long Beach–East Los Angeles Corridor Mobility Investment Plan is a mobility initiative for the I-710 Corridor, spanning 18 cities and three unincorporated communities from Long Beach to East LA. The plan allocates $743 million to multimodal improvements that prioritize transit, walking, biking, safety, and cleaner air. Replacing an earlier freeway-widening proposal, this equity-centered approach commits to over 200 projects and 15 programs aimed at reducing pollution, improving access, and reconnecting neighborhoods. Initial funding comes from Measures R and M to attract over $4 billion in additional investment.
