LOS ANGELES – In the wake of California voters overwhelming support of Prop 50, Los Angeles City Controller candidate Isadore Hall III, reaffirmed his support of the Democratic Party.

In a statement released by his campaign, the former State lawmaker reiterates his committment to democratic values.

I’m a proud, lifelong Democrat — and my life’s work in public service profoundly reflects those values.

Ret. Senator Isadore Hall III

Since the inception of his campaign launch, Hall’s campaign has had the wind at its back, earning widespread support from grassroots Democrats, unions, law enforcement and widely respected elected leaders.

Who is Isadore Hall III?

The son of a single mom, Isadore Hall grew up in the South L.A. County City of Compton. The youngest of six children, Isadore understands the struggles that so many working families face every single day.

Isadore began his career of public service in 2001 when he was elected to the Compton Unified School District Board of Trustees. He served two terms as President of the Board and oversaw important reforms to attract highly qualified teachers and increase funding to classrooms throughout the district.

In 2003, he was elected to the Compton City Council where he served in various leadership positions including Mayor Pro Tem. While on the Council, Isadore oversaw efforts to increase youth access to parks and recreational activities, reduce crime and promote business growth throughout the city.

With a profound commitment to building safer local communities, Isadore entered the academy, graduated and became a sworn peace officer, serving as an official Reserve Deputy Sheriff for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Later, he was elected to the California State Assembly where he served from 2008-2014 in a variety of roles, including as Assistant Speaker pro Tempore and as the Chair of the Assembly Governmental Organization Committee.

Elected to the California State Senate in a Special Election in 2014, Isadore served as Chair of the Senate Governmental Organization Committee, as well as on the Banking & Financial Institutions, Health, Insurance and Public Employment & Retirement Committees.

During Isadore’s tenure in the Assembly and Senate, he built up an expansive record on addressing the state’s fiscal crisis during the Great Recession, improving public safety, helping to creating more good paying jobs, reducing childhood obesity and diabetes, expanding access to healthcare, advancing immigrant rights laws, investing more in public schools, funding clean and renewable energy like wind and solar, establishing more sustainable statewide water policy and more.

After serving in the Senate, Isadore was appointed by then-Governor Jerry Brown in 2017 to serve on the California Agricultural Labor Relations Board. He was re-appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom in 2023. Modeled after the National Labor Relations Act, the California Agricultural Labor Relations Board oversees implementation of the California Agricultural Labor Relations Act, which extends collective bargaining and labor rights to workers in the agricultural industry by conducting investigations, audits, adjudicating labor disputes and conducting union elections.

Isadore received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Master of Arts Degree in Public Administration from National University. In 2011, he was awarded a Master’s Degree in Management and Leadership from the University of Southern California, and dual Doctorates in Theology and Religious Studies from Next Dimension Bible College. He is also a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

A proud Angeleno, Isadore lives in South Los Angeles.
