POMONA – A teen who was fatally shot by a 13-year-old girl in Pomona was identified Tuesday by county authorities.
Officers found the teen, identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office as Angel Sierra, suffering from a gunshot wound and attempted life-saving measures, but he died at the scene, according to a Pomona police spokeswoman.
Pomona Police Department officers and Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded around 5:30 p.m. Sunday to the shooting report in the 1300 block of East Pasadena Avenue, south of East Kingsley Avenue, authorities said.
Video footage showed multiple police units at the scene and several officers investigating inside the building.
In a statement Monday, police said investigators “identified a 13- year-old female as the possible perpetrator,” and she was taken into custody and taken to Juvenile Hall.
The girl’s name was not released due to her age. Her relationship with the victim, if any, was not immediately known. While the victim’s age was not listed, previous reports listed him as 16 years old.
“The motive for the crime is not yet known, and no additional information will be provided at this time,” police said.
The homicide was the ninth of the year in Pomona and the first since a murder-suicide Nov. 17, according to Aly Mejia, the Pomona Police Department’s public information specialist.
There were 12 homicides in Pomona in 2024, Mejia told City News Service.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting was asked to contact Pomona Police Department at 909-622-1241. Anonymous tips can be made through Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
