WINNETKA – Authorities Monday identified a 31-year-old man who was killed when a tree fell onto two vehicles in Winnetka.
Firefighters responded around 3:30 p.m. Friday to the 7300 block of North Mason Avenue, where the large tree had fallen onto the roadway and on top of two vehicles, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
A person in one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was identified as Edgar Pec Mejia of Canoga Park, according to the medical examiner.
Details about how the tree fell over remain under investigation, but the recent series of rain storms led to various toppled trees in the area.
