LOS ANGELES – A man suspected in a fatal shooting in downtown Los Angeles was arrested Monday.
The shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. Monday near Fifth and Main streets, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The suspect ran away after being spotted by Central Division officers who witnessed the shooting in progress, leading officers on a pursuit, running northbound on Main Street before continuing toward Spring and Fourth streets while armed with a handgun, resulting in less lethal shots being fired by police.
“He was taken into custody and LAFD paramedics rendered aid, then transported him to a local hospital, where he is being treated for injuries,” according to a police statement.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined. Detectives from the Robbery-Homicide Division continued their investigation Monday night.
The name of the deceased victim was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
