HUNTINGTON BEACH – The Huntington Beach Police Department is continuing its investigation Friday of a collision in which a pedestrian and a man who was riding a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle were killed.
Officers from the police department responded at 8:27 p.m. on Thursday to the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Ellis Avenue where they found the driver of the motorcycle, 45-year-old Martin Ramirez Jr. of Los Angeles and the pedestrian, 46-year-old Nicholas Howell of Huntington Beach, unconscious in the roadway, according to authorities.
According to a preliminary investigation, the Harley-Davidson was traveling southbound on Beach, while the pedestrian was crossing Beach outside of a crosswalk when the collision occurred, police said.
Paramedics from the Huntington Beach Fire Department were called to the scene, where both victims were pronounced dead, said Huntington Beach police spokesman Corbin Carson. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the collision.
The investigation of the collision is ongoing and is being handled by the HBPD Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team, according to the police department.
