LOS ANGELES – A child has been killed and multiple people have reportedly been injured by fireworks across Los Angeles and Orange Counties during 4th of July festivities.
An 8-year-old girl suffered fatal injuries during a neighborhood Independence Day celebration in Buena Park, authorities said Saturday.
The injury was reported at 9:50 p.m. Friday around the 8000 block of Cornflower Circle, according to Buena Park police Sgt. Jon Shaddow.
The fireworks “discharged unexpectedly during a neighborhood celebration,” Shaddow said.
Orange County Fire Authority paramedics treated the girl at the scene before taking her to UCI Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The homeowner where the fireworks were discharged was arrested at the scene.
In South Los Angeles, it was reported on the Citizen app that a man blew his hand off near 45th Street and Broadway Street.
Los Angeles rapper Rapper 4Xtra has reportedly suffered a serious hand injury after a firework exploded during Fourth of July celebrations.
He posted on social media about “blowing people up” as he held what appeared to be small explosives, then suffered the catastrophic injury hours later.

Despite the numerous warnings provided by both local law enforcement agencies and fire departments, people continue to experience serious injuries that at times result in the loss of limbs.
