INGLEWOOD – The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office has identified a woman found dead on the sidewalk in Inglewood on June 30.
Inglewood Police Department officers responded to the 3700/3800 block of Century Blvd. Monday morning to reports of a dead body found near a bus stop adjacent to the Intuit Dome and across the street from the sprawling Hollywood Park campus that houses COSM, SoFI Stadium and YouTube Theatre.

Upon arrival, they located the woman who was unresponsive and pronounced her deceased at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics at 1:09 a.m.
The woman was identified as 19-year-old Samantha Lira.
According to a GoFundMe established by her family, they attribute her death to a drunk driver after attending the Ivan Cornejo concert at the Kia Forum, although the medical examiner’s office has listed her cause of death as an accident attributed to “blunt force trauma” which is consistent with being hit by a vehicle.
Social media commenters provided more details since Inglewood Police Department hasn’t updated the public on the accident described as a hit-and-run.

Liras’s family has established a fundraiser to assist for burial and funeral costs.
“The Lira Family is going through a very devastating time, they recently lost (sudden)Samantha (Sammy), only 19 years old, who was taken away by a drunk Driver Sunday Night while leaving Ivan Cornejo’s concert,” according to the GoFundMe.
The City recently voted to extend alcohol sales at the Intuit Dome until 4:00 a.m. although there was no event taking place at that time.
The Weekend’s ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ concert, which included Playboi Carti, was also held the same night.
If Lira’s death was attributed to a drunk driver, the City has made no efforts to alert the public with a vehicle description despite the installation of an extensive surveillance camera system that surrounds the Inglewood Sports and Entertainment District.
The Inglewood Police Department has not commented publicly on the death, which was the second dead body found in the City in three days.
On Saturday, June 27, the Inglewood Police Department responded to the 2900 block of Imperial Highway, where a dead body was found near the entrance to McDonald’s.
The man was identified as Donald Lee, 41, with his cause of death “deferred” pending an additional investigation.
It is not uncommon for IPD to suppress crime in the City since the opening of the multiple entertainment venues housed in the Inglewood Sports and Entertainment District, which leaves residents relying on social media posts and word of mouth to learn of crime in the City.
