LANCASTER – The medical examiner’s office Monday identified a man who was killed when he fell from an off-road vehicle that crashed in Lancaster.
The crash occurred about 2:25 a.m. Sunday on Avenue H, west of 35th Street, and involved a Can-Am Maverick and Nissan Sentra, said Detective Ryan Ament of the sheriff’s Lancaster Station.
A passenger aboard the Can-Am, identified by the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office as Juan Vital, 36, fell off the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries.
Vital, whose place of residence was not listed, died at the scene, Ament said.
The Nissan was going east on Avenue H, where it struck the off-road vehicle in the roadway, Ament said.
“The cause of the crash is still being investigated. It is unknown if speed was a factor in the crash,” he said. “It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs played a factor in this crash.”
Anyone with any information was urged to contact the sheriff’s Lancaster station at 661-948-8466.
