LONG BEACH – Police in Long Beach Friday were investigating the death of a 27-year-old man who was killed when the motorcycle he was operating clipped a pickup truck.
The rider, a resident of Long Beach, was on a 2023 Yamaha, heading north on Redondo Avenue around 10:25 p.m. Thursday when he side-swiped a pickup truck driven by a 63-year-old Lomita man, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
“The collision caused the motorcycle rider to lose control, and he then collided with the curb,” according to an LBPD statement. “The motorcycle rider was then ejected.”
The pickup driver cooperated with the investigation, and excessive speed is being investigated as a possible factor in the crash, police said.
The motorcycle rider’s identity was not immediately available.
Anyone with information about the crash was urged to call LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Joseph Johnson at 562-570-7355.
