LONG BEACH – A 40-year-old pedestrian who was struck and killed on a freeway transition road in Long Beach was identified by authorities Wednesday.
California Highway Patrol officers responded around 8:55 p.m. Tuesday to the connector from the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway to the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway, where they found the victim and two vehicles believed to be involved in the collision, according to Officer Ramon Kendricks.
The victim — identified by the county Medical Examiner’s office as Kurtis Haynes — was pronounced dead at the scene. His city of residence was not immediately known.
The CHP was investigating the collision.
