SOUTH GATE – A 29-year-old man who police allege was attempting to rob a marijuana dispensary in South Gate and was fatally shot was identified Thursday.
Officers from the South Gate Police Department responded at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday to the 5800 block of Imperial Highway, near Garfield Avenue, regarding a robbery report, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
They found an employee in front of the dispensary, who told them a man tried to rob the business and he shot the alleged robber, the sheriff’s department said.
Police found the other man inside the dispensary suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics, according to sheriff’s homicide Lt. Steven De Jong.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified him as Robert Radillo.
Two firearms were recovered at the scene, according to the sheriff’s department.
