TORRANCE – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle Thursday in Torrance.
The man was struck shortly after 5:25 a.m. by a 2013 Jeep being driven south on Crenshaw Boulevard near 235th Street, according to the Torrance Police Department. The pedestrian, who was walking “outside of a crosswalk,” was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man’s name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
The sole occupant of the Jeep, a 70-year-old man, sustained no injuries, police said. The driver remained at the scene and spoke to investigators.
North and southbound lanes of Crenshaw Boulevard between 235th and 237th streets were closed for about five hours while the investigation was conducted.
The case remained under review by the Torrance Police Department Traffic Division.
