SANTA ANA – A 63-year-old man was sentenced Friday to 70 years to life in prison for sexually assaulting two girls he is related to in Anaheim.
Rodrigo Acosta Aguilar was convicted Nov. 7 of a count of sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child 10 years or younger, one count of oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child 10 or younger, two counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a minor younger than 14, and four counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a minor, all felonies.
Police were called to Anaheim High School on Nov. 9, 2021, after one of the girls — who was 14 at the time — accused Aguilar of sexually assaulting her between the ages of 7 and 11, according to prosecutors.
She told an older relative, who then disclosed she had also been assaulted by Aguilar, prosecutors said.
One of the victims said the abuse occurred nearly every day when she was alone with Aguilar at their Anaheim home, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said the victims reported that another relative was also abused but declined to cooperate, saying she didn’t want the defendant to be sent to jail.
One accuser told investigators she was sexually assaulted by the defendant between the ages of 6 and 11 while they lived together, and that the abuse occurred more than 100 times, prosecutors said.
