GARDENA (CNS) – A motorcyclist killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the San Diego (405) Freeway near Gardena was publicly identified Saturday.
Leonard Montanez, 47, died from multiple blunt force injuries in an accident, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office. His city of residence was not disclosed.
California Highway Patrol officers were called to the southbound freeway at the Vermont Avenue exit about 10:45 p.m. Friday, where they found Montanez lying in the slow lane with an overturned vehicle and camper of one of the vehicles in another lane, according to CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig.
Montanez was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from the L.A. County Fire Department.
The CHP issued a Sigalert closing the exits of Vermont and Normandie avenues and three additional lanes of the southbound freeway while they investigated the circumstances surrounding the collision.
