LONG BEACH – A pedestrian who was struck and killed while lying in a Long Beach roadway was publicly identified Friday.
Tung Nguyen Cao, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the county Medical Examiner’s office. His city of residence was not immediately known.
The crash occurred around 2:35 a.m. Thursday on Seventh Street at Channel Drive, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
A preliminary police investigation determined a 28-year-old Garden Grove resident was driving eastbound on Seventh Street when the vehicle struck the pedestrian, who was lying in the roadway, police said.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.
Speed and impaired or distracted driving did not appear to be factors in the crash, according to police.
