COMPTON – A 53-year-old man fatally shot in Compton was identified Monday.
Deputies responded at 11:08 p.m. Friday to the 100 block of North Poinsettia Avenue, near East Compton Boulevard, where they found the victim with a gunshot wound to the head, according to Lt. Michael Modica of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Eric Washington was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the county Department of Medical Examiner’s office.
The homicide was the second homicide reported in Compton on Friday. A 12-year-old boy was fatally shot at Fig/Oleander Park at 3:55 p.m., the department said. A 17-year-old boy was arrested Saturday in connection with that shooting, authorities said.
