VAN NUYS – A 38-year-old woman was in police custody Friday evening in connection with the drowning death of her 7-year-old daughter in Van Nuys.
Los Angeles Police Department officers were called to the apartment building at 6841 Sepulveda Blvd., between Basset and Vanowen streets, at 5:40 p.m. Friday, according to an LAPD spokesman.
The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
KTLA 5 reported the girl lived at the apartment with a man and a woman.
According to KTLA, the man reportedly found the girl’s lifeless body when he arrived home and began screaming for help.
A woman who police said was the girl’s mother was arrested at the scene.
