LOS ANGELES – A man was fatally shot in the head in the Vermont Vista neighborhood of South Los Angeles and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is underway.
Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at Olive Street and Imperial Highway at 3:45 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, according to an LAPD spokesman.
Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department were called to the scene, where they pronounced the man dead.
Witnesses told police the suspect fired several shots toward the victim after the initial shooting before running away from the scene.
The LAPD’s South Bureau will be in charge of the investigation.
