LOS ANGELES – On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Police Department released video footage to identify and capture a man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman aboard a Metro bus.
The 33-year-old victim was riding the bus in the area of Sunset Boulevard and Vermont Avenue at around 9:50 p.m. on April 12 when the suspect sat beside her, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
“The suspect began a conversation with the victim before brandishing a knife and demanding money from her. When the victim did not have any money to give the suspect, he sexually assaulted her for several minutes,” according to an LAPD statement.
The suspect exited the bus at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Figueroa Street and fled south on foot toward 40th Place, police said.
The suspect is described as Hispanic, between 19 and 30 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall and wearing a white T-shirt with a soccer logo for Qatar Airways, dark pants and a dark backpack.
Police said there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.
