LOS ANGELES – A 28-year-old woman who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in South Los Angeles was identified by county officials Wednesday.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as Kelly Calderon. She was pronounced dead at the scene,
Los Angeles Police Department officers were called to the 9600 block of Figueroa Street and West Colden Avenue at 12:02 a.m. Tuesday, where they learned the driver was traveling north on Figueroa at a high rate of speed when they struck the pedestrian, who was crossing the street, according to an LAPD spokesman.
The driver left the scene without stopping. There was no vehicle description and the driver is still at large.
The LAPD’s South Traffic Bureau is in charge of the investigation of the fatal collision.
