MONTEBELLO – A 17-year-old girl killed in a crash in Montebello following a possible police pursuit was identified Wednesday.
The crash was reported just after 10 p.m. Tuesday near Garfield Avenue and Beverly Boulevard, NBC 4 reported.
A witness told ABC 7 that he saw a Montebello Police Department patrol car pursuing a silver Toyota Camry driving at a high rate of speed. In an attempt to avoid police, the driver of the Toyota crashed into a tree in Ashiya Park.
Video from the scene showed the Toyota with extensive damage to its front end.
Montebello Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene and freed at least one person from the wreckage, according to reports from the scene.
At least one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office identified the victim as Alina Lozano.
It was not immediately known if there were any passengers inside the Toyota.
