IRVINE – A 28-year-old man was killed Saturday when his SUV crashed into a utility pole in Irvine.
Thomas Joseph Kaczan of Irvine was pronounced dead at the scene and appeared to be the only person inside the dark-colored Chevrolet SUV, Irvine police Sgt. Karie Davies said.
A passerby notified police of the crash about 12:30 a.m. Saturday at Irvine Center Drive and Protocol, Davies said. Arriving officers found the SUV resting on the curb on the north side of Irvine Center Drive.
The cause of the crash was under investigation by the Irvine Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team, Davies said.
