VENTURA – Five people were injured in a traffic collision caused by a wrong-way driver early Sunday morning in Ventura.
A wrong-way driver collided with multiple vehicles on US-101 South just north of SR-126 East at “Lemon Curve.”
California Highway Patrol Ventura Area officers and the Ventura City Fire Department responded to the scene shortly after the incident was reported around 12:30 a.m.
A white SUV was observed traveling northbound in the southbound lanes. Shortly afterward, three vehicles were reported to have been involved in the crash.
By 12:34 a.m., emergency responders indicated that three vehicles were involved in the collision, with one party trapped inside one of the vehicles.
Five patients were transported to the hospital, one of whom was reported to be in critical condition.
It is unclear at this time if drugs or alcohol were involved.
