MONTEBELLO – Police Wednesday are continuing their investigation of a crash in Montebello where at least one person died after a possible police pursuit.
The crash was reported just after 10 p.m. Tuesday near Garfield Avenue and Beverly Boulevard, NBC 4 reported.
A witness told ABC 7 that he saw a Montebello Police Department patrol car pursuing a silver Toyota Camry driving at a high rate of speed. In an attempt to avoid police, the driver of the Toyota crashed into a tree in Ashiya Park located in the 2700 block of W. Beverly Blvd.
Video from the scene showed the Toyota with extensive damage to its front end.
Montebello Fire Department paramedics was called to the scene and extricated at least one person from the wreckage, according to reports from the scene.
At least one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was not immediately known if there were any passengers inside the Toyota.
