SYLMAR – A man who was struck by a big rig while walking on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Sylmar was positively identified Friday.
Julio Cesar Silva was 55 years old and died from multiple blunt injuries in what the Medical Examiner’s office described as an accident.
California Highway Patrol officers found the Hacienda Heights resident on the right shoulder of the Golden State Freeway at 3:43 p.m. Wednesday, according to a CHP press release. Officers began life saving measures until Los Angeles County firefighters arrived at the scene and pronounced him dead.
It was not known if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the fatal crash, the CHP reported.
