ENCINO – A man suspected of fatally shooting his wife in Encino Wednesday evening was arrested.

Officers responded to the 5100 block of Hesperia Avenue, two blocks south of Ventura Boulevard, to reports of shots fired around 7:22 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The 54-year-old woman’s husband allegedly shot the victim several times and attempted to run away, but was caught and arrested by officers, NBC4 reported. Neighbors reported hearing at least five gunshots before police were contacted, according to NBC4.
Police said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the motive leading to the fatal shooting remained under investigation Wednesday evening.
